King Eddies Revival Big Band

21/10/04 - Primary School Day

On 21st October 2004, the full band (plus equipment) were packed into the minibus and Mr. Troughton's car and shuttled around Stratford-upon-Avon to play to the children of three different primary schools.  First we went to Thomas Jolyffe Primary where we had to quickly set up before playing to the upper school.  The youngsters appeared to be very interested and got involved by dancing in their seats.  We played four songs, two of which included vocals from Will Robinson (set list details below).
Our second visit was to Bridgetown Primary where we were received with equal enthusiasm and played the same set.  The staff were particularly complimentary about Will's singing!
After a lunch on Shottery fields, we travelled the short distance to our third and final "gig" at Shottery Primary.  Once again we played our set to the excited children and finished the day by packing up the equipment and travelling back to school.
We all agreed that it had been a good day, especially for our new members.
Thanks go to Mr. Troughton and Mr. Dodsworth for their assistance with transport.

Set list:
1) Pick Up The Pieces by James Hamish Stuart, Alan Gorrie, Roger Ball, Robbie McIntosh, Owen McIntyre and Malcolm Duncan (yes it took six people to write one song), solo from Ed "the space" Hogg.
2) Sing Sing Sing by Louis Prima (made famous by Benny Goodman and his orchestra.)
3) Come Fly With Me by Sammy Cahn and James van Heusen
4) Music To Watch Girls Go By by Velona and Ramin, arr. Richard Meehan, solos from Adrian McCusker and Bushy/Twiggy.

Thanks to Mr.Troughton for pictures
