King Eddies Revival Big Band

14/05/05 - The May Ball 2005

Without doubt this was the biggest and most significant gig the band had played at since its creation.  The Levi Fox Hall was decorated beautifully for the 35-pound per person priced event and the band had been preparing to headline the Ball for the last few months.
We had two sets (featuring a record 7 vocal numbers) with a 45 minute interval between them.  At 9.30 the band was welcomed with raptuous applause and played an excellent first set which got the crowd out of their seats and onto the dance floor (see below for details).
And later, at about 11.15 when the audience were even more drunk than before, the band were re-introduced and played the second set including two encores.  All the band really enjoyed themselves and it was a very successful gig.  After the band's performance there was a disco that went on into the early hours of the morning.
The May Ball 2005 was an astoundingly good event made even better by all the effort put in from the following.  Thanks go to: both the FOKES and KESST commitees for all their hard work in preparing the actual Ball, the players from the rugby teams who served as excellent waiters, the caterers for all their lovely food, Ed Hogg, Toby Dixon and Claude for all their help with sound and lighting, John Bierman for recording the soon-to-be-published CD of the gig, the band - particularly Mr. Meehan - for providing the live entertainment, Mr. Moore-Bridger for letting us use the hall and most importantly, the audience for all their support which made the night even better.
