King Eddies Revival Big Band
10/02/06 - Broad Street Primary School

The first gig of 2006 was another very successful primary school gig.  Just down the road from KES we played six songs which will form the "party pieces" at the end of various other gigs - these are slightly less jazz-orientated covers of some famous classics all arranged by the Maestro Meehan himself.  The kids absolutely LOVED the band with constant dancing and cheering, the teachers had trouble keeping control.  The band was (as is almost usual these days) in an unusual shape with no Tom English or Bushy, leaving the new Jack Houlton to carry the tenor sax position.  But the big change was our new vocalist to replace the departed Will Robinson - the one and only Mr. Philip Bowes!  Mr. Gajadharsingh was present to deliver a rousing and... inspirational speech to the youngsters but the real success of the day was the pieces themselves, very well written and arranged and, of course, very well played.

Set:
1) Got To Get You Into My Life by Lennon and McCartney, with solos from Ernest Amoako and Jack "Billy Whizz" Harrison.
2) Move On Up by Curtis Mayfield.

4) Gimme Some Lovin' from The Blues Brothers, solo from The Maestro Meehan.
