King Eddies Revival Big Band

25/06/06 - Stratford Boat Club

The band were asked to play at the Stratford Boat Club in Swan's Nest Lane to provide some light entertainment for the celebration of the KES Boat Club's 80th Anniversary.  The legendary school archivist, Richard Pearson, had organised the event and the band were more than willing to play.  But we weren't without absences.  Tom Sharp was unfortunately not present and so his rather large shoes were filled by Kieran Ford, who will be joining the KES Sixth Form in September (2006).  Jack Houlton was also unavailable but fortunately we did manage to drag all of the sixth formers from their study leave for what could turn out to be their final KERBB gig!  Meanwhile Richard Harrison was busy playing with his town band just 100 yards away in the bandstand, so most passers-by heard a nice mixture of traditional and more classical music and jazz and hardcore funk.  The atmosphere was amiable and the weather decided not to deteriorate and the audience appreciated the contribution of widely well-known songs that the band has performed countless times before.  Mr. Moore-Bridger himself said, "It was a lovely afternoon".  And following a comfortable and successful gig most of the band made it home in time to see England "obliterate" Ecuador in their Second Round World Cup match.
