King Eddies Revival Big Band
06/10/06 - Welcombe Hills School Fundraiser

The first gig of the new school year saw a good-sized crowd turn up to the Levi Fox Hall to see the new-look jazz band play for the first time since July.  Half of the proceeds from the evening went to the Welcombe Hills School - a special school for disabled children - and it was great to see some of the children from the school dancing along to the music!  The evening got started at about 8.00 and a full two sets were played.  The crowd, originally a little reluctant to get up and dance, soon loosened up and provided a brilliant atmosphere which the band's sounds really complimented.  The usual assortment of classic jazz, funk and swing numbers were performed and once again three vocalists turned up to make the evening even better.  A particularly good second set made this gig a very useful chance for the new members to find their feet and for the rest of the band to settle in again.  Thanks to all who turned up and to the Faux Pas committee who provided the food and drink and a warm welcome.
